This was a multi-use, multi-story, building located right next to the Rock River in downtown Beloit, Wisconsin. This work was preformed for Corporate Contractors Inc., a general contractor out of Beloit, Wisconsin. The building was designed with a parking garage area in the basement with a spancrete deck for the first floor and steel framed from the first floor up. The spancrete deck required heavily reinforced high strength concrete foundation walls and footing pads, along with an angle iron reinforced bearing ledge and wall heights reaching heights of 13’0”. Constant groundwater and winter month construction required extra careful planning and constant below grade water pumping to keep the project running smoothly and to protect the concrete from being damaged by extremely cold temperatures. The flatwork on the project required three different types of placements; one in the basement placed on a stone sub base, the first floor topping placed on a spancrete sub base, and the second floor topping placed on a corrugated metal decking sub base.
